When emails fail to send or are later rejected by the recipient (a bounce, or return to sender):
- all such failures are now collated into one notification. (Previously, if the mail failed even to leave the Cameo server, it was notified separately. For example, malformed email addresses or already quarantined email addresses)
- these notifications are sent in a more timely fashion. (Previously, they were notified early the following morning; now they are mostly notified to you about two hours after a mailshot is sent).
Usually most bounces happen from a few minutes up to an hour or so after sending. So for a mailshot, most bounces can be notified within a couple of hours. Some may occasionally arrive later, sometimes much later (for example, when the sending mail server thinks a problem may be temporary and tries again over several days before finally rejecting it).
