An option on the join form’s contact (second) step let’s you ask the question “how did you hear about us?”. The answer is appended to the membership record’s source field.

Background
You can already provide a general purpose anything more you want to tell us box in the join form. The answer to this goes into the ideas & suggestions field in the membership record. The new field let’s you separate out a common question to ask, with the answer going in the existing, more appropriate source field. This avoids the need for a custom field and corresponding question.
Add the “source” option
To add the question, tick the option on the contact step of the join form, just like other options (Fig 1). Once inserted, you can reposition and change the caption just like any other (Fig 2).
