The payment form type (often used for donations) now has an option to create a contact record if the payee is not already known to Cameo.

Background
The payment form takes a payment from anyone, without needing to store them in Cameo. If we already know them, the payment is linked to them. Otherwise, we just send you a notification that a payment was received, giving the payee details.
However, it is sometimes useful to create a new contact for these otherwise anonymous payments.
The default behaviour is unchanged: you have to turn on the contact creation option.
Add a contact
To have for payment form add a contact:
- Turn on the make contact option (
) in the first step of the form.
- Select the type of the contact you want to make in the setting Contact type for new contact (
– this setting is only shown when the make contact option is turned on). You might choose to make a new contact type for this purpose (in organisation settings → contact types)
Any information we have about the person making the payment is added to the new contact record. For example, if you turn on Gift Aid, we record their Gift Aid declaration in the contact like any other.
To be created, you have to ask for and receive at least an email address. Ideally you should ask for a name as well. A phone number can be useful as a second means of contact in case they mis-type their email address.
