You can now have additional fields in the payment form type. Payments forms post their responses to member info → questionnaire and petition responses.

Background

The payment form, as the name suggests, takes payments. However, it can also ask about the payee in various ways (name, address, email, phone). It has always included the option of an arbitrary note to be sent with the payment.

When someone makes a payment, the information supplied is posted as a notification and as an interim transaction. It is linked to the membership concerned, if any. That can be a new contact if that option is turned on.

However, the notification was the only place where the note was recorded. There was no easy way to aggregate these, for example in a spreadsheet.

Saved responses

Now, any note and a few other fields, plus all responses to any number of additional questions you wish to ask are also sent to member info → questionnaire and petition responses.

This means you can do anything with the responses that you could do with questions form responses. In particular, you can download all payments via the form along with any additional fields.

Additional questions are added to the form in the same was as other forms with additional fields: using the seedling button ( ) in the form editor. This can include file uploads, if you need to ask the payee for a file. The response includes these as attachments, just like the questions form.
